How to Make the Most Out of Hiring a Professional Photographer

As with all things, the “why” is the most important part of the equation. Why do we need photographs? Do I need to hire a photographer to document all the work that went into the event, to honor winners of an award, to promote a mission or agenda, or is the photographer there for a regal or fun atmosphere?

Having a clear idea and sharing the goal with the photographer will help you make the best use of your vendor. to allow the professional to bring ideas and and get involved with the event. Decisions involving lighting design, signage, which images will show best on social media can be greatly aided by the input of a professional photographer.

When I do my events, I talk to the A/V people to get help having the right lights on stage, I know when there is a camera doing live capture that I cannot stand in front or try to get on their riser. I bring ideas that some times are forgotten like having sings in front of podiums or locating the banner or logo on stage in a location that will be visible when people talks at the podium. recommending award recipients to take badges off or talking with the person handling the awards to give directions posing with the recipients. Knowing the variables, the event agenda and planning ahead produces great photos and give peace of mind that the photos are in good hands.

The best way to take advantage of your next event photographer is hiring a real professional who will be one step ahead of your needs.
